Allison Bliss

A "Splash of Bliss" is the way Birmingham artist, Allison Bliss, approaches her works of art, from the
flowing splashes of color in her continuing painted series in acrylic mediums, "The Guitar" to the
color movement of the "Lights Magic" and "Ala Nostalgic Collages." The friendly cloud like gesture
on a faux painted ceiling in the home of Brook Valley Farms is magic in itself. Color flows on interior
walls and exterior walls as well. Mural created and painted by Allison appear in places such the
restaurant, "Los Angeles," trompe l'oeil on the exterior of a home on Cherokee Road, and celestial
scenes on the gables of a home in Southside, making Birmingham eclectic with a "Splash of Bliss."
Miss Bliss also has unique view for photography turning that view finder into a canvas that is
pleasing to the eye.
Giving back to the community is a part of life with Allison. Involvements with community outreach
through art auctions and fundraisiers such as the BAO, Elton John Aids Foundation and The Diana
Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, "Makes me a better person as well as a better artist", Miss Bliss
states.
Allison is a member of the Birmingham Art Association and has participated in several member art
shows as well as "Random Acts of Art" and was honored with First Place in Photography in the
Spring Juried Art Show "Art in Bloom". Being publised on the front, back and inside of UAB's
Literary Art Review, "Aura", Fall 2006 issue as well as the Spring/Summer 2007 issue also honored
Miss Bliss.
Allison has a BA in fine art/graphic art and interior design from Judson College. After graduation in
1986, Miss Bliss dove into the job market of graphic arts and design as well as digital pre-press for
many years. At this point in her career, Miss Bliss prides herself as a fine artist using most paint
mediums and finishes. She has always known her creative side has been a gift.
