Through the years I have developed a process of painting that is very
intuitive, concentrating on color and layers.  The works focus on the
relationship of other components as well: shape, line, composition, and
design.  The paintings have continuous smooth dripping lines mixed with big
masses of colored shapes.  I am interested in the way these elements
interact with each other.  Each painting is an opportunity to explore new
ideas to add to my process.

Not only do my paintings deal with the formal issues within my art: they
speak of emotion as well.  To me they are a display of my mind.  I have been
influenced by the symbolic language of many cultures.  Just as they use their
language of characters to communicate, so do I with my art-work.  It is a
language of my mind and imagination.  I allow my surroundings; my senses
and my life become a part of my painting experience.  Cecily received a
Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Mississippi State University in 2000.
