Melinda Dalton Hollingsworth
Melinda Dalton Hollingsworth was born in Oxford, Mississippi where she lived through
the 1st grade.  Melinda then moved with her family to Batesville, Mississippi where she
began her artistic adventures.  Her first works were made of objects found behind Big
Star Grocery and along the streets and creeks of Batesville.  Currently she is using
plaster and paint to create contemporary frescoes.

Many of the frescoes capture the essence of people that have found a place in
Melinda's heart.  Her works, of people, animals, and flowers, have a folk art flavor.  In
contrast her cryptograms are abstract with a hint of modern Pop Art.  The hidden
messages in these frescoes reflect Melinda's positive approach to living her life.

The frescoes are created by applying plaster to boards.  A relief effect is created by
adding layers of plaster on top of each other and carving into the dry plaster.  The
frescoes range in size from 12 inches by 12 inches up to 48 inches by 48 inches.  The
larger pieces can weigh up to 30 pounds so each one has a wire hanging system that
is rated for its size and weight.

Melinda has been featured in several solo shows as well as exhibiting with other
artists.  Her home is in Birmingham, Alabama.
