Michael McCarty
Born in Dothan, Alabama (1946). Graduate from Auburn University (1970).  
Accepted position as "designer-illustrator" with Graphicsgroup in Atlanta
(1970).  Had first  "one man show" of abstracts and graphics at Montgomery
Museum of Fine Arts (October, 1970).  Started freelancing in the music
industry (1975) producing album covers and cd packaging.  Clients included
most of the major record companies.  Did art work for clients including
Atlanta Rhythm Section, Jerry Lee Lewis, Isaac Hayes, Patti Smith, James
Brown, Willie Nelson, Peabo Bryson, Little Richard, Lynyrd Skynrd, The
Outlaws, The Tams, Joe South, Billy Joe Royal, Dobie Grey, Tommy Roe,
Bobby Brown, Waylon Jennings, Sam and Dave, Clarence Carter, The
BarKays, Lewis Grizzard, and Dave Barry.  Served as album packaging
chairman for the Grammy Awards and has seat on board of governors for
The Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.  Taught two illustration classes
at Art Institute of Atlanta.
Painted abstracts for Richard Tubbs Interiors, and Loretta Goodwin Gallery for
several years in Birmingham, Alabama and for
Page O’Connor Fine Art in Santa
Rosa Beach, Florida.
