Nelle O'Connor
Simply put, I love to paint. I love everything about it...the smell, the way the paint feels as the
brush touches the canvas, the way eyes and ears and dimples reveal themselves and then giggles
and sighs and even sometimes, quiet. It is exciting but also most peaceful.
I was fortunate to grow up in a home where art and music were encouraged and took my first art
lessons when I was eight years old. I have painted off and on over the years and began painting
full time in 2004 after retiring from a 20 year career in the corporate world.
I have been fortunate to study with some of the finest artists in Birmingham and have been
involved with the local Art Associations. I have been the recipient of awards through the Mountain
Brook Art Association, Vestavia Hills Art Association and the Hoover/Shelby Art Association.
As you view my work you will see that my interests are varied. The one common thread however,
is real life. I thrive on capturing more than just an image but the essence of a moment and
time...how fog hangs in the air or the sounds of children at play or quiet at sunset. I hope you
enjoy my work.
