Preston E. Edwards
I am a native of Birmingham, Alabama. I have been painting for three
years.  I find canvas, wood and paper all equally enjoyable surfaces
to paint.  I prefer acrylics because they are flexible.  They dry rapidly;
they are forgiving and allow me the greatest freedom of all the
mediums I have tried.

I love to paint because it gives me the opportunity to use my
imagination and creativity.  When I start painting,  I do not know
what I will capture.  It develops as I work with the color, form and
texture.
Art is totally subjective.  Some people will love your work while others will not.  If you are pleased with
your work, the rest will take care of itself.  Only an artist knows the emotion and feelings involved in the
creation of a painting.

Although Pollock has been my greatest influence, I believe Picasso captured the reason that most artists
paint when he said, "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."

In the past three years I am grateful to have placed paintings in many private collections, including those
of other artists, interior decorators, and in several local corporate offices.
