Lindsey Reed is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She currently lives in Montgomery with her husband, Carter, and three children, Will, Emily, and Libby. The day to day joys and trials of child rearing have made her realize that her true joy is found in abiding in Christ's love every minute of every day. Her love to create led her to this series of oil pastels on panels. The crosses are wonderful reminders of the LORDs goodness and love for her and her family. Her favorite verses that complement this idea are Psalm 89:14- 18, Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD. They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness. For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn. Indeed, our shield belongs to the LORD our king to the Holy One of Israel. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin and then sent His Spirit so we could live in Him and share His love with others. Lindsey creates the crosses in different colors to represent how we each are so different yet are all able to live in His presence and joy throughout the day. Lindsey loves to surround herself with angels. The Bible records many ways that God used angels for His work. When drawing and painting angels, Lindsey thinks of how they continually praise and worship the spotless Lamb. Revelation 5:12 gives us a glimpse of heaven as we can try to imagine thousands upon thousands of angels singing in loud voices to the triumphant King! Gloria In Excelsis Deo! Lindsey also loves sheep. "They represent who we are", she says. Isaiah 53:6 says "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." God compares us to sheep because, like sheep, we need full time supervision for so many reasons. God has us in his care because we are not trainable (we dont learn the first time), we cant pick ourselves up when we are down (we need His love to pick us up), we cannot bear heavy burdens (Jesus carries our burdens), we are defenseless (Jesus fights for us), we love to go our own way (we are selfish), but most of all we need His daily touch. These are just a few characteristics of sheep. Jesus is our loving shepherd and we are in His tender care. Sheep remind Lindsey just how much we all need God's tender shepherding every day. And, as a mother of three, sheep are a reminder to her to tenderly shepherd her own children patiently with love everyday. |
