Being engaged in art everyday is vital to my formation as an artist. Every creative experience on canvas, whether I thinks it works or not, leads to a whole host of creative possibilities. If I stop taking ideas to canvas, then the creative possibilities stop. Therefore I must create art everyday so I can envision what kind of an artist I will be three months from now. Art has given me the vision to be a better artist tomorrow than I am today. Life's bumps in the road resulted in my love of texture. I want people to see a different way of looking at things. In my art, texture is primary and color is secondary because texture tells color what to do. Knowing that at the end of a day's creative journey I can see tomorrow with hope is what my art is all about. If I don't take that creative journey everyday, I feel fragmented. |
